Stacy Bender-Fayette has been working as a technology integrationist for thirteen years. Why does Stacy teach technology? Her passion is helping teachers and students find creative ways to enhance the learning process with digital photography/video, Internet research skills, and online communication tools. This year, Stacy will be working part-time in the classrooms assisting teachers and students.

Stacy is excited to join the Schoolcraft Learning Community as a teacher and parent. Her daughter, Nile, will be starting kindergarten at Schoolcraft this fall. Working part-time will also allow Stacy to spend time at home with Zoe, her four year old. Stacy and her husband, Jeremy, have lived in Bemidji for ten years. Stacy enjoys traveling, photography, and entertaining.

Bonjour,

Comment ça va?

Bienvenu à l'année 2011 – 2012

Welcome to a new year.

With this new year the French program at Schoolcraft brings new opportunities for our older students.

Starting in fourth grade and through eighth grade, students are now able to sign up for a French enrichment class meeting once a week on Tuesday from 1h00pm to 1h50 pm. Students sixth through eighth grade have an additional opportunity to sign up for a Wednesday French Enrichment class 1h00pm to 1h50.

The French Enrichment Program is created to meet the need of those students who are interested in working with more focus on written French. The program is designed as a simulated pen pal conversation between an American youth and youth from the French speaking world. Students will take on and create a Francophone personality.

Students in the French Enrichment program should expect some homework and research time on the internet on a regular basis.

Interested students should sign up for either or both classes with Shar by Monday September 12 . Questions can be addressed to François or Scott,

Instead of the weekly French meeting , sixth through eighth grade crews will participate in 3-4 day French immersion experience at the language villages at a time to be determined.

Merci

Hi! I was born and raised in Solway. I went to Bemidji High School. I worked odd jobs such as waitressing and cashiering for a couple years after high school, and then I worked 9 years as the school lunch lady at Solway Elementary School. I have been working summers at Concordia since 1988, and started full time at Concordia in 1992. This is my 13th summer as Head Cook at the Russian Village...which I love. I have cooked at many other villages as well. I was the food production supervisor the past twelve years but now am once again happy to be the school lunch lady at Schoolcraft. When not working, I enjoy playing with my kitties, tending to my flower beds, watching movies, relaxing on my deck with a nice cup of tea and hanging out with friends.

Welcome to Schoolcraft Orchestra!

Come and join the fun!  Orchestra is open to all students in 4th – 8th grades who would like to play the violin, viola, or cello.  (Orchestra is available to K – 3rd graders if they are taking private lessons.)  We meet each week during the school day.

We play a variety of music, from Celtic to Classical to Fiddle and Bluegrass.  We perform at the Winter and Spring Schoolcraft Concerts, and we have played in St. Paul and also around the Bemidji area.  Our first concert will be Monday, December 5 at 6:30 pm.

Contact:     Please contact me if you have any questions.
Email is easiest:  frances@schoolcraft.org.  If you prefer, my home phone is 751-5700

Practice:     Students are expected to practice 2 times their age each day, 5 days per week.  For example, a 10 year old needs to practice at home 2 x 10 = 20 minutes each day x 5 days per week.  A 13 year old would need to practice at home 13 x 2 = 26 minutes each day x 5 days per week.  Kids love an audience!  Ask your child to play for you!

Rentals:      Reasonably priced rental instruments are available from Nancy Gallagher, 586-2536 or fgallagh@paulbunyan.net.  Violins and violas generally rent for $20/month, cellos for $25/month.

Thank you!
Frances Van Dorn
