PTO Meeting Minutes

April 13, 2010

In attendance at the meeting were: Patty Haggen, Geri Bang, Shar Paquette, Carolyn Johnson, Sanya Swanson, Meghan Gulmon.

1-Current/Old Business

Most of the meeting was spent finalizing plans for the Open Mic/Talent Night at Brigid’s on April 17th. We agreed that using the Schoolcraft brochures would work well to put on the tables so people could read about the school if they weren’t already familiar with it. Ann at Brigid’s was ok with the idea…Action: Shar said she’d bring them. We discussed arrival time at Brigid’s. 3:00PM seemed like enough time to set up the fundraising table and have the mc’s look over the line-up list. Action: Meghan agreed to contact Robert and Paul to ask them to arrive early. We thought a fishbowl would work well for taking the free-will donations at the door. Action: Patty and Sanya would communicate on who could find one.

April 30th is the deadline for ordering spirit wear. This way there is enough time for the order process and the items should arrive with enough time to distribute them before the end of the school year.

THANK YOU to all who attended the Open Mic/Talent Night! It was a huge success. What talent we have among us! This was a fun evening and we as the Schoolcraft Learning Community showed some of our true colors! There was already some talk of plans for a second annual!

2-New/Future Business:

Shar told us that Mary Carlson is stepping down from her Fall Festival role. Mary has been organizing it in the past and still has quite a few prizes to be used for the games. She would like a new person to fill her shoes and be in charge of keeping & ordering prizes for future years. (Thanks Mary for all your hard work!)

We also discussed a book exchange. Linda Simons and Lara Dybing had asked Shar if the PTO is interested in helping organize an exchange. As a group we thought it is a good idea yet we would like to discuss it further for next year…maybe part of the summer picnic or different event.

Our last PTO meeting will be held at Brigid’s Cross Irish Pub on Tuesday, May 4th. Please come join us to close out our successful year and to begin planning for the 2010-2011 school year!
