CURRENT NEWS

6/7 CREW NEWS: 6th and 7th Portfolio Presentation Days

Schoolcraft 6th and 7th grade students are putting the finishing touches on their portfolios and preparing for their presentations. Seventh grade students will be presenting on Friday, May 16th. There will be no school for the 6th and 7th graders on Friday, May 16th. Sixth grade presentations are scheduled for May 19th and 20th during school hours. School will be in session these days. These presentations are the culmination of individual efforts in learning for the 2007-2008 school year. An effective presentation is an integral part of passage into the next grade level. It is vital that parents and family members attend these portfolio presentations to provide students with an important audience with which to present. Please feel free to invite persons of importance to your student's presentation.

Letters will be mailed out next week to parents indicating scheduled presentation times.

Valley Fair - On May 21st, the 6th and 7th graders from Schoolcraft will be traveling to Valley Fair for a day trip. Travel will start early in the morning aboard a charter bus and will return following the park closing at 5 PM. Students that have completed all of their work at a passing level for this past semester will be eligible for this trip.

This trip was discussed with students in January at the start of this Civil Rights expedition, and students were encouraged to keep up to date on their schoolwork and continue to work towards passing the 6th and 7th grades. Students that are behind on their daily or project work will have the opportunity to finish or revise their work at school the day of the trip, with a staff member for additional help and guidance.

Please encourage your student to continue working on their schoolwork for the remainder of the year. Our goal is to take all of the students in the 6th and 7th grades along on this fun trip, and leave no one behind if possible.

~ Thank you, Sara Breeze
