Soleil, Feuilles et Crêpes!

What an eventful first couple of months! We enjoyed the end of summer with some classes outside (6th grade Elective pictured), took advantage of Fall’s beauty by finding and talking about the leaves (K) and now with the snow, we are back inside but not without some good smelling crepes to keep us company (1st grade). The expeditions this fall have been very fun to work with for me. In Kindergarten, we just finished making some French compasses (“boussoles”), in 1st grade, we explored what ingredients and steps were needed to make some excellent French crepes. Most students were able to make their own! (pictured). In 2nd and 3rd grade, we have been focusing on La Famille, landscapes and the weather (which is changing all too rapidly if you ask moi). They just took home some booklets describing their family and pets. The 4’s and 5’s have been busy learning parts of the ship in French (I took out the term “La Poupe” for obvious reasons…), as well as a song on Spain since their expedition is Early Explorers. I have no doubt they could navigate the Mediterranean accompanied only by locals with ease!

Middle Schoolers have been watching/discussing some Publicités, or advertisements. They’ve been able to sample some French candy in the process- not too many complaints there. We’ve also been working on placing countries that contributed in the Second World War on a map. Can you guess what is L’Allemagne or Le Japon?

A bientot!

Many of you already know that I just started my Maternity Leave this week. Thank you for the well wishes on my departure! It is bittersweet to leave such a wonderful Learning Community and look forward to my return at the end of January. Monsieur Robert Saxton will be filling in while I’m gone. Merci beaucoup Robert!
